OPEN NAGAYA OSAKA 2021 Main Program delivered online
?
Nagaya was a typical residence for commoners during the Edo period. A one or two stories high, long housing complex that runs under the same ridge, they still exist in modern Japan but the number is decreasing.
OPEN NAGAYA OSAKA is an open house event which aims to promote the preservation and utilization of Osaka Modern Nagaya. Evolving out of an art event organized by Osaka City University to exhibit the renovation results of Osaka Modern Nagaya, the two-day event has been held every autumn since 2011.?https://opennagaya.wixsite.com/website
The main program of the OPEN NAGAYA OSAKA 2021 was held online on Saturday, November 20, 2021.
The OPEN NAGAYA OSAKA 2021 is an event that shows daily life in Nagaya row-houses and represents Osaka's living culture. This event has created new connections and exchange between participating venues (Nagaya) as the number of events increase and become more vibrant. The benefits of participating in the OPEN NAGAYA OSAKA 2021 include finding various tips such as how to utilize vacant houses, how to create a place for local exchange, and how to retrofit and design old buildings to make them more comfortable.
The main program had talks by “Nagaya-jin,” or residents of Nagaya row-houses and a 3D walk-through tour of an Osaka Nagaya. About 100 people participated online, including students from other universities, high school students, and people working in architecture.
During the talks, students and Nagaya-jin enjoyed exchanging opinions on how they decided to live in Nagaya, the secrets to living a more comfortable Nagaya life, and how to connect the good old Nagaya to the next generation.
During OPEN NAGAYA OSAKA Week [November 20th (Sat) -November 28th (Sun)], you can compare 3D-scanned Nagaya from 40 years ago to those today.
