Youth Show “A Space Ship for the Hand” as Idea for Osaka/Kansai Expo.
On Sunday 24 November, 2019, Honaikude, a young group developing ideas for the 2025 Osaka/Kansai Expo, presented one of their ideas at an event called “Inochi Gakusei Mirai (Life Student Future) Forum 2019 x mini WAKAZO (Youth) Pavilion”, at the Dojima River Forum.?

The event was divided into a series of lectures and exhibitions co-sponsored by the inochi student project, WAKAZO and the General Incorporate Foundation Inochi Future Project. One of the exhibitions was an interactive piece of art by Honaikude that was “a space craft for the hands” – an attempt to show how valuable and miraculous habitable areas are to living creatures by using a simulation device that takes the user's hand “into outer space” and shows the severe state life becomes there.
All members worked together in setting up the mini pavilion, which included investigation of space, development of equipment, setting up the booth and day-of operations. Making full use of the expertise of its members Honaikude's strength bore fruit in this event.
One of the Honaikude’s representatives, Katsuya Shimizu (3rd year doctoral course student), commented, “Honaikude is not yet well recognized. However, we are very pleased that we were able to create a visible product like this. We hope it becomes one big first step towards many more events in the years leading up to 2025.”
