2016 Entrance Ceremony held
The 2016 Entrance Ceremony was held on 4 April 2016 at the Osaka Municipal Central Gymnasium. This year OCU welcomed 1,542 undergraduate students, 10 undergraduate transfer students, 506 master students, 120 doctoral students and 17 law school students.

Speech by the Mayor of Osaka
Hirofumi Yoshimura
President Tetsuo Arakawa touched upon the long history of Osaka City University in his congratulatory speech, after which the Mayor of Osaka Hirofumi Yoshimura welcomed and congratulated the guests, followed by a message from the Chairman of the OCU Education Supporters Association read by its Vice Chairman Kizaemon Tsukamoto. After the official speeches two students spoke on behalf of their fellow students. This year’s representatives were Chisa Miyazaki of the Faculty of Human Life Science representing the undergraduate students and Kaichiro Shimada of the Graduate School of Law representing the students entering or continuing into Graduate School.
The entrance ceremony came to an end with a joint song performance by OCU Chorus ‘Friede’, Mixed Chorus and Glee Club and a music performance by the OCU Symphony Orchestra.
