Nepalese OCU PhD student in Medicine wins CWAJ scholarship
Samantha Tamrakar, 1st year PhD student at the OCU Graduate School of Medicine has won the 2015 CWAJ (College Women's Association of Japan) scholarship (Graduate Scholarship for Non-Japanese Women to Study in Japan). She was invited to the Tokyo American Club for the award ceremony on 14 May.
Ms. Tamraker came to Japan in April 2014 and started doing research under Professor Kenji Ohata of the Department of Neurosurgery. In her home country Nepal there are not so many neurosurgeons yet and only three female ones. Ms. Tamraker said she was pleased and honored to receive the CWAJ scholarship, and feels that it will not only help her realize her dream of becoming a successful? neurosurgeon, but also help her to support her home country.
