The survey was carried out on-line targeting 3540 listed Japanese companies of which 433 participated. Nikkei HR asked the companies’ human resource managers about new recruits who started working for them between April 2013 and March 2014 and who were from the ten universities from which the company recruited the largest number of students. They were asked which five characteristics including ‘interpersonal skills’, ‘intellectual skills’ and ‘creativity’ they felt matched with graduates of each university.
OCU came out especially strong in ‘interpersonal skills’, in which most other national and public universities scored low, and in ‘studying seriously’.?
