Prizes for Professor Yamochi and Tenma Itaya of the Graduate School of Engineering
The research of Professor Yamochi of the Graduate School of Engineering was selected as ‘2013 Outstanding Research Result’ by the River Foundation’s River Development Fund.
Professor Yamochi has been carrying out research on nature regeneration in the Yamato River, supported by funding from the River Foundation since 2008. His research proposal ‘Research on the recovery of upstream spawning and hatching of natural ayu (sweetfish) in urban rivers and estuaries’ was selected from among 304 entries in 2012 and his winning research report from among 145 entries.?
In addition, Tenma Itaya, 2nd year Master student in Professor Yamochi’s laboratory, won an award for his presentation ‘River environmental evaluation through the occurrence of larval ayu in the urban Yamato River‘ at the Japanese Association for Coastal Zone Studies 2013 workshop meeting.
