Extra-curricular student activities at OCU in 2012
At the end of this calendar year, we would like to introduce some of the successes among the OCU extra-curricular student activities in 2012.?
Shogi (Japanese chess)
The OCU Shogi club took first place in the Kansai Student Shogi Federation spring 2012 B-class team tournament and promoted to the A-class.
The tournament took place at Doshisha University on 10 and 17 June and at OCU on 24 June. There are 18 universities competing in total. The tournament results were as follows:

Nihon Kempo (martial art)
The OCU men’s team prolonged their title for the 12th year at the 44th Nihon Kempo National Tournament for National and Public Universities.
Tomoko Hamada (OCU Faculty of Business) took 3rd place in the women’s individual tournament. Manako Kawai (OCU Faculty of Human Life Sciences) took 4th place.
The tournament took place on 30 September in Nagoya。

Karate
Takeshi Yamashita (OCU Faculty of Economics) reached 9th place in the men’s individual lightweight class at the 67th National Sports Festival of Japan, taking place in Gifu from 6 to 8 October.

Rowing
The OCU rowing team reached 8th place in the men’s 4 at the 53rd National Newcomers Tournament.
The tournament for rowers who are in their first 2 years of rowing, organized by the Japan Rowing Association, was held from 19 to 21 October in the Toda Olympic Boat Course in Saitama.
